I want to use HP Smart to scan images on to my computer. I am using the Officejet 7612. I am making large posters for family members, but HP smart only gives me the largest resolutions as 300dpi, I am looking for something like 1200. Any ideas on how to change this. For the old program that came with the printer I could scan in at 1200, but I thought I would try to use the new program HP Smart.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.
When you use HP Scan Extended :
The flatbed gives you access to the higher ppi (resolution).
For example:
Open program
Select Save as JPEG
Select a Page Size (OR select Auto Detect to have the printer "see" the image size)
Set the Source as "Flatbed" (glass)
Click More >
Section Image
Select the resolution (ppi)
Set other bits as you like them
Click Scan

For Windows 10 machines, you have to use HP Scan software on your computer, not HP Smart app. Or try HP Scan Extended using the following software
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, for Windows 10:
(a) Hit Win key,
(b) Scroll down to HP group/folder,
(c) Double click "HP Scan Extended"
Regards.

You are welcome.
HP Scan Extended is a nice scan software.
Newer HP printers have this program installed as part of the Full Feature Software.
Happy Printing!
