Scanner works fine, but trying to change the default output "PDF" to Word. Can this be done?? Change the document to scan into word instead of PDF.

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution: 

Did you search on the Microsoft website as they have manufactured the windows 10 as well as the MSword?

Did you check for any other HP Forum posts to help resolve your concern?

That said, I'm afraid there's no way of saving the document as MSword, although as mentioned in the above link, you can convert PDF to "word" and use it to your advantage.
