Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Before I give up the will to live, is there anybody out there that can point me in the right direction to download the drivers called HP Universal Scan Software that will actually work. I've tried multiple times to download this from the HP web site and every time it tells me This app can't run on your pc but according to HP this is the correct driver to enable me to scan from the touchscreen which I am unable to do at this time without the download. My Dell 16 Plus is less than 1 year old running on Windows 11. Any help will be much appreciated.

I am not sure what exactly is happening.

Scanning is described on page 32 of the user manual

At the touch screen (printer console) you can touch the Scan to USB

This feature is the function of the firmware in the printer and has nothing to do with the downloadable universal printer scan tool.

If you are trying to scan using Web Scan then it needs to be enabled as described on page 11

All of your software is here

Looking at the list (windows 10, 64bit)  I do not see any optical recognition software. If you want to scan to a PDF that can be edited you will need 3rd party OCR software.

The universal scan is good for scanning from your dell laptop.  Note there is an ARM and an Intel/AMD version.  Only one of those is designed for the Dell and they have nothing to do with the printer consoles touch screen..

Let me know if this is what you are asking about.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your help. What I am trying to do it use the scan facility directly from the printer - the scan icon on the touchscreen - scan to computer.

When I tap the scan icon, a message appears stating "to scan from the printer directly to your Microsoft Windows computer, you must download and install HP scanning software" The set up page tells this is found at hp.com/hpscan and to download "HP Universal Scan Software" I have tried this and it will not download. The message received is "This app can't run on your pc" I am using Windows 11 not 10 over a WiFi connection. I hope this explains the problem. Thank you

Thank you for clarifying that.

I looked at hp.com /hpscan and that software is Intel/AMD compatible and contains OCR and cloud support.

Your Dell has the Ultra 7 256v chip and is is fully AMD/Intel compatible.  It is not an ARM type CPU so it should work fine with that scanning software.  I do not have an 8122e.  I went here and noticed there is a new version dated July 2, 2026.  Just a few days ago.

Full_Webpack-63.8.6459-SJ0001_Full_Webpack

It installed just fine on my PC.  Did you download the older version?

I do not have an icon "scan to PC" as my 5001 has no console so I cannot test that out.

If the July 2, 2026 does not download and you get "cannot run on on your PC", try this:

Create a new administrator account on your laptop.  Make it a local account (not a Microsoft email account) Log into the new account and download the driver. Try to install from the new account.

Hi.... Thanks again for your input. I've tried everything you suggest but still it's not working. I downloaded the most recent version and am now getting a new error message, it's too long to write it all down but it's a driver package return error 536870141.

I've spent hours asking AI and HP for a solution not to mention the time you've spent trying to help me, I've tried everything AI suggests including turning off my anti virus, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender temporarily - nothing seems to work

I can't spend any more time on this problem, I will just have to scan another way other than using the touchscreen, it's infuriating I don't like things to beat me but this has certainly beat me!

Thank you so much for taking the time to try and help me I do appreciate it.

Error 536870141 (often displayed as -536870141) is not an HP-specific error. It means Windows rejected the driver package during DriverPackageInstall, so the problem is usually with Windows' driver installation process rather than the HP installer itself.

I assume your system can access OpenAI (it can be free) and the above is explained here
