while scanning the printer asked to state whether it is to be in pdf or jpg format. This option is no longer available. I recently chaged the hard drive on my desktop ( windows 10). Scan only appears in jpg format

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Officejet Pro 8615. You can usually download these from the HP website. Sometimes, after changing hardware like a hard drive, drivers need to be updated to ensure compatibility.
  • Reinstall Software: Sometimes, software related to the printer can become corrupted or misconfigured. Uninstall the scanning software on your computer and reinstall it from the original installation disk or download it from HP's website.
  • Check Settings: After reinstalling the software, ensure that the scanning settings are configured correctly. Look for an option within the scanning software to choose the file format (PDF or JPG). Sometimes, this option might be hidden in advanced settings.
  • Use Default Scan Utility: If you're using the default Windows scanning utility, it might not offer the option to scan to PDF. Consider using the scanning software provided by HP instead, as it may offer more features and options.

 

By following these steps, you should be able to restore the option to scan to PDF format on your HP Officejet Pro 8615.
