Photosmart C6150
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I was unable to print, copy, scan or fax due to expired ink cartridges although my black doesn't expire until 6/28/18 it wouldn't even allow me to do so in black option. I then spent $64.00 to replace all my ink cartridges and I reset printer and still getting error code:0xc05d1281. Can't find the error code anywhere HP told me to go to windows. Can't find any help here either. Many people looking to override in situation like this but can't figure out how to do so! Printer is wired through ethernet cable.

Hi @cyanne,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you.  I reviewed your post and understand that the printer does not work and asks for introductory cartridges. I’ll be delighted to assist you with this.

You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Thank you for giving us the privilege to assist you on this platform. Brilliant troubleshooting and some  smart diagnosis were done before posting your query. Kudos to you for that.

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

I will be sending you the steps for the Semi-full reset as a private message, which restores the printer to original factory default settings.

Please try these steps out and check how that pans out.

If it does not, then the issue could be hardware related and you could contact HP phone support by visiting this link: htttp://hp.com/support and follow the on-screen instructions.

If it does then it is a hardware issue with the unit and it needs to be serviced. Please contact HP  phone support by visiting this link: http://hp.com/contacthp and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
