Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I have gone through ALL the checks and balances and can't complete the "steps" they tell you to complete.  It says to go to the "wrench" icon to

Run the HP Smart Diagnose & Fix tool

I don't have a WRENCH icon - nor anything that opens the HP Smart Diagnose & Fix tool - this problem started after the last windows update.

@SunshineMarie, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding 'Scanning is Currently Unavailable' in HP Smart App!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're unable to find the Diagnose & Fix tool in HP Smart due to missing icons, there are still several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Here’s what you can try:

1. Ensure Latest Version of HP Smart

  • Verify that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed. You can check for updates in the Microsoft Store for Windows.

2. Check for Updates in Windows

  • Ensure that your Windows OS is fully updated. Sometimes, incomplete updates can cause issues.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates.

3. Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app. This can often resolve any glitches or issues related to missing features or icons.
  • Download the app again from the Microsoft Store.

4. Check Printer Connection

  • Make sure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
  • Check the printer's connection status within the HP Smart app, ensuring it's not in remote mode.

5. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off your printer, disconnect the power cord for 60 seconds, then reconnect it and turn the printer back on.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
