HP Scan is part of the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software intended to be installed for a Supported Printer and a supported version of Windows.

 

If the full driver is installed and working,

HP Scan is "assigned" to the printer for which the software was installed.

This implies, too, that the HP Scan software is installed on the computer where the content will be saved.

 

The Destination for the content is assigned during the configuration (job setup) before the scan job is sent to the printer.

 

Possible sources of the issue might include one or more of the following:

The Destination folder / path is not fully selected or is not set correctly

Including:

  • The Destination is set to other than the local computer and the destination folder is not available.  For example, the destination folder is selected as a folder in OneDrive and OneDrive -- perhaps that particular folder -- is not signed in or the folder is not available on the local computer.
  • The Destination folder is set to the local computer but the folder lacks the necessary permissions to accept the content.
  • The job is configured as a Save to Email (either PDF or Photo / Image) and the necessary email client software is not installed (or fully configured) on the computer.

The Printer Software, including HP Scan, is not in fully installed or the full driver printer software is not working as expected

  • Windows Updates are not current or are "pending" a system Restart
  • The full driver printer software is in need of being uninstalled and reloaded

Scanning from the Printer

 

Install the Full Feature Software for your printer

Open the Printer Assistant shortcut

Select Tab Scan

Manage Scan to Computer > Enable the feature

Installed full driver printer software adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop:

  • Printer Assistant
  • HP Scan
