When scanning document shows as colored lines only...I have tried cleaning, shutting off, and download of drivers the issue continues

Plug the printer directly into a wall socket.

Then repeat the scan.

I'm sorry about that.
The scanner is defective and needs to be replaced.
How old is the printer?
