Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have just reinstalled HP Smart and the drivers for the HP OfficeJet 4550 all in one printer/scanner. I now have a series of new issues which I had not experienced prior; 1) when I go to scan using the document feeder, the unit always reverts to scan using the glass panel (even though there is no document on the glass) AND 2) when I go to scan I used to be asked if I would like the document to be saved as a JPG or PDF. This does happen any longer and all scans are automatically processed as JPG files. Just as a side note, I have found this unit extremely troublesome overall (have owned for approx 2 years now). Previously owned a HP all in one unit and it worked perfectly for 10 years without a single issue. This model is so far removed from that reliability. Hope someone has some practical advice to solve these new issues that wont take an excessive amount of time 😞

I have fluked a remedy to this. There is a "Basic Driver" available which I downloaded and this corrected the issue. Even though it states the download is for "IT Professional Use Only". Also at the end of this download there is a message stating there is more recent drivers available for this product. This product set up is far to unreliable/complicated, and creates a circular reference of dead end download links. This starts with "HP Smart" which you are pushed into instead of what previously used to be a specific download for a specific product. I spent the best part of three (3) hours today trying to get a simple all on in one printer/scanner product working correctly. Surely HP can do better than this?
