I might not understand what you are asking.

The printer is not a phone answering machine.

That said,

If you are referring to Fax operations,

(then)

The following will be useful in context:

Open

User Guide

Read Pages 52-56

This section contains the following topics:

  • Print fax confirmation reports
  • Print fax error reports
  • Print and view the fax log
  • Clear the fax log
  • Print the details of the last fax transaction
  • Print a Caller ID Report
  • View the Call History

Thanks Dragon

My fax is connected to my landline. When it rings the number appears in the display of the HP5258. The landline is set to go to a voicemail before the fax can be received. I occasionally send faxes but would have to make an adjustment in order to receive them, which I very rarely do. Since the incoming call is not intended to be a fax, I was still wondering if I can get a printout of all the calls (not faxes) that I received over a period of time. Based on your reply and the manual pages you note 52-56, it seems like that not going to be possible.

The printer is not aware of phone call records in the way you want them collected.

The only way the printer saves anything about a call is if the fax picks up to receive an incoming fax.

Fax log information is transitory - fax logs can fill up or be deleted by accident or by design (deliberately).

This level of detailed information is "still out there" at your phone company.

You might be able to get a record of numbers that called into your land line phone number.

It does not sound like the type of data the phone company would willingly share with you - it would not hurt to ask.

If you have a voicemail service, you might be able to get a copy of the times that people left a message.

I see no such icon to recall, not even in the settings or sub-menus. I've accepted that it doesn't have one. Thanks for the extra efforts to help.
