I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please try making a Photocopy and check if you have those lines

May I know which App you are using for Scanning?

Also let me know if you are scanning through ADF or Scanner Glass

Thank you

Hi, thanks for replying to my post for help.

I am using Scanner Glass when I scan.

I tried scanning from both HP Easy Scan and Adobe Photoshop.

Both ways are having the same problem.

I just did a copy from the Scanner Glass and print out in color using the touch screen on the printer.

Please see attached, it still has the uneven lighting across.

@sawPL, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

On the printer, go to Setup > Printer maintenance > Update the printer > Check for updates now

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also. perform the steps mentioned under 'Lines or color bands in copies' in this document.

Let me know how this goes.

Hello Kurma,

Thanks for helping. Below is what I had tried:

1. Reset the printer follow your steps.

2. Cleaned the flatbed scanner by following the steps in here.

As my printer is not connected with WIFI, I chose to download firmware from the HP website.

After submit my printer model number, it directed me here.

There is no firmware to download and only recommend me to download the HP Smart App.

I tried it and the problem of the uneven lighting is still the same.

I keep mentioning it is the uneven lighting because it looks more like an over exposure lighting on that line than a color bands to me. When I scan other images, that part will be lighter in color like an over exposure.

I attached below the image of my printer scanner flatbed to show you the part that causes the uneven lighting when scanning.
