Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

When I choose to SCAN an instruction comes on, circling moving around, telling me to re-register. I can't get past this and cannot get around it.

Hi @Rafa871,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP ENVY 6455e All-In-One Printer and the HP Smart app. If you're being forced to register again when trying to use the SCAN feature in the app, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your device (phone or computer) is connected to the internet. Sometimes, connectivity issues can cause problems with account verification.

Update HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. Outdated apps can sometimes have compatibility issues.

Reboot Your Printer: Turn off your HP ENVY 6455e printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes resolve minor connectivity or software issues.

Clear App Cache (for Mobile Devices):

  • On Android:
    • Go to "Settings" > "Apps" > "HP Smart."
    • Tap on "Storage."
    • Clear cache and data.
    • Restart your phone.
  • On iOS:
    • Go to "Settings" > "General" > "iPhone Storage."
    • Find "HP Smart" in the list and tap on it.
    • Tap "Offload App" (to remove the app without deleting data) or "Delete App" (to remove the app and data), then reinstall it from the App Store.

Check HP Account Information: Make sure you are using the correct HP account credentials when prompted to register or sign in. Double-check your email address and password.

Reset HP Smart App (as a last resort):

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.
  • Reboot your device.
  • Reinstall the HP Smart app from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android).
  • Sign in to your HP account and try scanning again.

Remember to back up any important settings or documents before performing any significant resets or reinstallations.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
