I am trying to copy some 8 by 5 documents. The printer says it does not copy that size document...  I find it hard to believe that there isn't a work around since this is a common size document.  Any ideas,  what am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are unable to copy 8*5 size pages . I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Are you trying to copy the document from document feeder or the glass bed.?
  • What exact error message are you getting , when you try to copy?

Meanwhile:

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Click here and refer the document for more assistance on copying a document.

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

Cheers.

The message 'Copy does not support 5 X 8 inch.  Load a supported size of paper in tray to continue'.

The interesting thing here is that it will print on a 5 X 8 card with no problem and it even comes up as one fo the choices when you put the 5 X 8 cards in the paper holder.

Also I get the same message whether I'm using the Glass bed  or the document feeder.

There should be a work around to this.  My last printer worked performed this function with out any issues.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I understand the issue better now.

I made a deep research on printer specifications.

I do see this printer should support 5*8 cards.

Click here and refer the document to check the specifications.

Update the printer firmware to fix this issue.

Followed the steps and the the message I got back said "The most current updates have been installed.  No new updates are available at this time"

Where do we go from here?
