Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I've never had to scan before now. Always print. I've now got a need to scan but I learned today that my warranty expired in October 2025. I'm 87 years old  and my income is total SocSec. So I can't afford another year @ $150. 1) What can I do; and 2)what has to be setup on this printer so a user can print/scan just by pushing a button as in the past?

Hi @Ann016,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you have always used your printer for printing and are now trying to scan for the first time. Please do not worry about the warranty expiration. Scanning does not require an active warranty or subscription. You only need the correct software installed.

Let us go through everything step by step so scanning works as easily as printing.

Step 1: Install the full feature driver and software

Printing can work with a basic driver, but scanning requires the full feature software.

Go to the HP support website:
https://support.hp.com/

Enter your exact printer model in the search box and select it.

Choose your operating system, for example Windows 11.

Under the Drivers section, look for the option called Full Feature Software and Drivers or Recommended Solution.

Download that package and run the installer.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

This software includes the scan driver and HP scanning utility.

Step 2: Install and use the HP app

Download the HP app from 123.hp.com or from your device’s app store.

Open the HP app.

Select Add Printer if it is not already added.

Once your printer appears in the app, select Scan.

Place your document on the scanner glass and follow the instructions on screen.

Step 3: Scan directly using the computer tools

On Windows:

Click Start and search for HP Scan.

Open HP Scan and choose your scan settings.

Click Scan.

You can also use Windows Fax and Scan by searching for it in the Start menu.

On Mac:

Open Image Capture.

Select your HP printer.

Click Scan.

Step 4: Check connection

Make sure your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
If using a USB cable, ensure it is securely connected.
If scanning does not start, restart the printer and computer and try again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
