How can I create SEARCHABLE PDF on Scan with HP OfficeJetPro 9015e

I just unboxed and am setting up a HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.  it replaces an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 that "died" a few days ago.  Following instructions, I installed HP Smart and have most of the functions I relied on with the 8610 working with the new printer (e.g., full duplex print and scan, support for legal and letter paper, etc.).  On thing that I REALLY NEED help on is doing a SCAN to a SEARCHABLE PDF document.  In other words, the scan will create a PDF document that I can use Adobe Reader to search for specific terms.  Before buying this printer, I downloaded and read the User Manual and it appeared that the scan function should do that [look at page 62 (68 / 216)] ... but in reality this does not seem like it can happen. 

** I have seen in similar replies on this board reference to software titled HP Scan.  I cannot find HP SCAN anywhere!  All I am pointed to in the instructions is HP SMART.  And, when I go to Microsoft Store, I see (and downloaded) HP SCAN AND CAPTURE.  But this app does not give me the ability to do a Searchable PDF when scanning.  What am I missing?

You want to install the Full Driver / Full Feature Software.

HP Scan is included (part of) the Full Feature Software.

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

• Home Page - HP Easy Start 
• Open Category Software and Drivers 
• Topic: Software-Utility 
• Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software 
• If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.

• Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation

• Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
• If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
• After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

1. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).
2. You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.
3. If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription.  Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.
4. Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.

The software adds two icons on your Desktop: 

Printer Assistant (named for the printer)
