Troubleshooting Fix Process (for your notes for futures customers) – for the OLD Green/White HP web interface for the computer – not the new interface – using Windows 11:

  1. In Windows, establish the scan network share folder on the PC.
  2. In Windows, go to Settings>Accounts>Sign-in options, and then TURN OFF “For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended)”
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. At the pre-login screen, select “Sign-in options” (this now appears because of Step 2 above).
  5. Use your Microsoft account password to log in.
  6. Open a browser and then go to the web interface of the machine via IP address.
  7. Go to the Scan tab, then create a new network folder path, Include:
    1. Scan path name (recommended to use the same folder name as established for the shared folder on the Windows PC.
    2. Network path of the shared folder.
    3. Microsoft account username (email) – assuming the user is NOT logging in as a local user
    4. Microsoft password.
  8. At the bottom, click Test and Save. The connection window will indicate a successful connection.

As an added FYI,

  • I then restarted the computer and selected the PIN sign-in option. I entered the PIN (which I had already been using before).  Was able to log into the computer with the original PIN
  • I then tried a scan from the printer.
  • Success. I was able to scan. Apparently, the printer caches the Microsoft password, so that when it calls out to the computer for the scan, it remembers the Microsoft password.
