When I scan something and use detect edges there are a lot of times when I want to either reduce or enlarge the scanned image.  When I do that by dragging the corners it doesn't keep it as rectangle and allows you to pull out one corner farther than the others.  Is there any way to keep the scanned image rectangular?

Please let us know which printer model you are using.

Also, let us know how you are scanning.

Shouldn't matter which printer I'm using since it's a question about the software but I'm using an HP 8710 OfficeJet.

I am using HP Smart.  When the program opens I go to my printer, then to scan.  I use:

Scan Preset:   Document

Page Size:   Entire Scan Area

Output Type:     Color

Souce:    Scanner Glass

Detect Edges:      Selected

Resolution:     300 DPI

Compression:    Medium

Then I click scan.  After it scans it shows me an image of what I've scanned with blue lines around it and 3/4 blue circles at each corner.  If I want to expand or contract the scan size I select one of the blue circles in the corners and pull it further out or closer in.  When I do that the edges of the scanned image are no longer perpendicular; they are no longer a perfect rectangle.  How do I keep the scanned image a perfect rectangle?  In many windows apps if you press shift while dragging a corner it keeps the aspect ratio or if you select an edge instead of a corner, it will only resize that edge; neither of these techniques seem to work within HP Smart.

Did you even read my post?  I AM using the HP smart app AND I'm using the crop custom option but when I drag the blue dots in your image the lines don't stay perpendicular.  How do I avoid that?

Please uninstall the HP smart app and reinstall the application and check for the issue.

Exact same results.  It's not the software having a problem, it's how the software works.
