Is there a way of feeding a multipage document into an Envy Photo 7134 for scanning - the way it was possible on my Photosmart 7520 by putting the whole document in the feeder tray - instead of putting it page by page on the flatbed? The User Guide offers no guidance.

This printer does not have an Automatic Document Feeder.

There is no option to scan multiple document pages at one time.

True - The  User Guide lacks guidance in the subject of using an ADF.

Thanks, Dragon-Fur (what a great name!) for your advice.

And how idiotic of HP to have brought out a series of all-in printers designed to lack a useful feature of previous series!

You are welcome.

True,

Lower price printers from HP and other manufacturers do lack many of the features available on more expensive models, including the ADF option.

What you say sounds logical, except that my current HP Envy 7134 printer, which has no ADF, cost over twice as much as the Photosmart 7520, which did have ADF. If HP goes on like this, the next upgrade could cost four times as much and not print at all...

Ah - my mistake for the editorial remarks.  Smiling.  OK - engaged.

Yes, "back in the day", I did have two of the Photosmart 7520 printers (one at Dad's house).  Each cost (at that time) about $120 USD.  Adequate printers.  I did not care for the lack of Ethernet.  The Wireless was finally reasonably stable after a critical update from HP to fix a flaw.  Great photo printing and easy to use.  Dad liked his printer and used it often.  I retired (and donated) both printers years ago and they both still worked at the time.

I agree.  Printers have increased in price.  What I paid for my OfficeJet Pro 9025 would not purchase that same printer in today's market - I saw a lesser OfficeJet Pro 80xx model in Staples a few weeks ago and its price was close to what I paid for the 9025.  Of course, that "walk by the aisle" casual observation might not mean anything - I've never purchased a printer from Staples and I cannot judge their prices.

What about other brands?  I think that these, too, have increased in price.  I cannot imagine that printer manufacturers are willing or able to absorb recent cost increases.  Again, though, I do not keep track of brand pricing so my general observations are based on watching the financial reports - my opinions are not based on any analysis of the facts.

I do hope you find a printer that suits you needs.  We support HP here in the HP Community - there are also other excellent printer manufacturers and each have their own following of loyal users.
