Hello DRDTOC,

Unfortunately your description does not provide further details like how the printer is connected, how many computers interact with your printer and when the problem started. Because of that, we will provide general recommendations:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same subnet the computer is.
  • Make sure no other computer is using the scanner at that moment.
  • Power cycling your printer can remove any stuck scanning jobs that could be trapping the printer for any other scanning: turn printer off, unplug it for 2 minutes, plug it in, turn it on and try.
  • Reinstall your scanning software or try some other app like HP Smart.

If problem persists and your printer is still under warranty, you can call tech support for further assistance. If your printer is out of warranty, you can take it to a certified service center for deeper inspection.
