Hi @Autumn60E,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're experiencing, where your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw printer is printing unwanted pages with "GET / eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP /1.1 Host: localhost" and similar text, is typically caused by a problem with the printer's drivers or software on the computer.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Uninstall the Existing Driver:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
    3. Open Device Manager, expand Printers, and uninstall the printer driver if it's listed there.
  • Download and Install the Latest Driver:
    1. Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw).
    2. Download the latest full-feature driver package for your operating system.
    3. Install the driver by following the on-screen instructions.

2. Reset the Printing System (Windows)

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on any printer listed and select Print server properties.
  3. Go to the Drivers tab.
  4. Select all printers listed (if more than one) and click Remove. Select Remove driver and driver package.
  5. Restart your computer and reinstall your printer using the latest drivers.

3. Check for Printer Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Go to the HP Firmware Update page.
  • Enter your printer model and check if there’s a firmware update available.
  • Download and install any available updates.

4. Check for Any Conflicting Software

  • Ensure that no other scanner software or printer software that might be sending these erroneous requests to the printer is installed on your system.
  • If you have multiple printer/scanner software installed, try uninstalling those to see if it resolves the issue.

5. Check Your Network Configuration

  • If your printer is networked, make sure that there are no misconfigured network settings or rogue applications sending these requests.
  • You might want to try setting up the printer on a different network or as a direct USB connection to see if the issue persists.

6. Disable the WSD Port

  • WSD (Web Services for Devices) might be causing this issue. Disabling it might help.
  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on your printer and choose Printer properties.
  3. Go to the Ports tab.
  4. Uncheck any WSD port, and instead select the Standard TCP/IP port, or the USB port if connected via USB.
  5. Click Apply and then OK.

7. Factory Reset the Printer

  • If the issue persists, you might want to perform a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings to default and could potentially resolve the problem. However, be aware that you'll need to set up the printer again from scratch.
  • Refer to your printer’s user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Refer to this document: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
