HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One

There is no interface with this copier. Not on the printer or in the phone app. Just dummy buttons.

• How do I resize / scale an image?

There is no "button" for that. Scaling images has been a standard on copiers since the 1960's.  Did HP get rid of the basics?

.

I should have bought an Epson. The sales guy talked me into this. Big regret.

First, please read our public service announcement -

What you consider the basics are still available on HP printer models that include the features.

It sounds like a circular statement but it is true for any printer manufacturer -

Printers come in different models

and

Different models include and support different features and options.

The salesperson sold you a printer model that lacks a full touchscreen Printer Control Panel and the features that might accompany the full service panel.

What to do?

Do what you must, I think.

Keep the printer after learning more about its limitations and features

OR

Return the printer for a different model - HP or other -- We do not judge.

Next time, examine the printer - perhaps read the specifications to get a better idea what the printer can do.

Ask questions --

For example,

Does the printer copy 2-sided ?

Does the printer copy and Resize ?

Does the printer include a touchscreen full service Printer Control Panel

Does the printer support automatic 2-sided printing?

Does the printer support automatic 2-sided scanning?  (Many do NOT)

If you decide to keep the printer, take a look at the user manual.

===========================================

You can interact with this printer using other tools that take the place of the front panel.

Is "everything" you want available on this printer?

Perhaps not -- it depends on what you are doing.

-------------------------------------------------

COPY is a printer function.

On this printer, there is no way to Resize copies as they are made.

There is no app or software alternative -- Copy is as you have found it.

Are the missing resize options a direct consequence of the missing touchscreen Printer Control Panel?

No idea - the printer mechanics might not have had Resize regardless -- doesn't matter, it's not there now.

-------------------------------------------------

Scan is a bit smarter using an application on your phone - the application must include the feature you want.

"Scale" is illusive using HP Smart --

Scanned content as created at the size found -- you can change some aspects of the scan (for example, Crop, Color, Add Text, Filters, and Markup)

"Scale" is not one of the options.

NOTE:

This printer model is eligible for Smart Advance - premium features normally only available with HP+.

-------------------------------------------------

Print

For the most part, the printed output follows the size of the paper.

You can print as "Original" or "Fit"

iPadOS includes a manual resize option -- nice but not useful for accuracy.
