Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I have just bought a new HP Envy photo 7200. I want to scan a document and then save the scanned thing into my desktop computer. But when I click the HP Smart thing (small square blue icon) I then click the large purple rectangular button called "Scan" and up comes a page saying "Couldn't connect to scanner. HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner was detected or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in the printer".  What should I do to make the new HP Envy photo 7200 do a scan then get it saved into my computer?

Hi @grimesbottom,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it feels when you’ve just bought a new printer and the scan feature doesn’t work as expected. The error message “HP Smart cannot scan from this printer” usually means the software isn’t detecting the scanner correctly, even though the printer supports scanning.

Here’s how to fix it step by step:

Step 1: Confirm Full Setup

Step 2: Update HP App

Step 3: Check Connection Type

  • Scanning works best over Wi-Fi Direct or USB.
  • If you’re using Wi-Fi, confirm the printer and PC are on the same network.
  • If possible, try connecting via USB temporarily to rule out network issues.

Step 4: Enable Scan Function

  • Open HP Printer Assistant (installed with full drivers).
  • Go to Scan > Manage Scan to Computer and ensure it’s enabled.

Step 5: Test with Windows Scan

  • On Windows, open Windows Scan or Paint and try scanning.
  • If it works there, the issue is with the HP Smart configuration.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
