I need to be able to scan double-sided documents. I was able to perform this task using the HP Scan app. I would scan the first side, re-insert the pages to scan the remaining side. HP Scan would then properly order the pages. I now have to use the HP Smart app. I scanned following the instructions provided but this app does not properly reorder the pages. This process is now performed manually, which is tedious when scanning large documents, as I need to do. How can this manual page reordering be resolved?

Hi @tkgbjenn2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Can you download and install the full-featured printer software from HP for your operating system: Click here
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
The FULL software allows you to scan 2-sided documents but needs to manually reload the pages into the document feeder. However, the software will auto-rearrange the pages in the correct order after scanning!
Load the Documents:
- Open the automatic document feeder (ADF) on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e.
- Place the stack of documents you want to scan into the ADF with the printed side facing up.
Adjust Document Guides:
- Adjust the width guides in the ADF to fit the size of the documents you are scanning.
Start the Scan from the Printer:
- On the printer control panel, locate the "Scan" option.
- Choose the desired scan type (e.g., "Scan to Email" or "Scan to Computer").
Configure Scan Settings:
- If prompted, configure the scan settings. You may need to select options such as color, resolution, and file format.
Enable Duplex Scanning:
- Look for an option to enable duplex or double-sided scanning. This option might be labeled as "Duplex" or "Two-Sided." Ensure that it is enabled.
Start the Scan:
- Once you have configured the settings, initiate the scan process. The printer will automatically feed the documents through the ADF for scanning.
Review the Scanned Documents:
- After the scanning process is complete, you can review the scanned documents. If you scanned to a computer, check the destination folder for the scanned files.
Using HP Smart (Optional):
- If you have the HP Smart software installed on your computer, you can also initiate scans from your computer and customize scan settings using the software.
Remember that the specific steps may vary based on your operating system (Windows or macOS) and the software version installed on your computer.
If you encounter any issues or if the options mentioned above are not available, I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
