HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased an HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw printer which is advertised as having scan resolution capability of up to 1200 dpi.  It works great on my Windows 10 PC.  In particular, I am able to scan at 1200 dpi using HP Smart.  However, in other software such as Adobe Acrobat the scan resolution limit is 300 dpi.  I have even gone into the Windows Control Panel, set the printer as the default, navigated to the Scan Profiles dialog box, and tried unsuccessfully to edit or add a color scan profile with a resolution above 300 dpi.    I would really like to be able to scan at >300 dpi from inside other applications without having to always resort to HP Smart.  Is it possible to set this up somehow?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you download and install the HP FULL Solution Software for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/my-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m282-m285-multifunc...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

You can set the different scan settings from 300- 1200dpi under "More"  (top right hand corner) > Image > Resolution

(note that Source setting needs to be "Flatbed")

Hope that helps.

Greenturtle, thanks for your quick response.  I did all that you suggested.  When I went into the downloaded software, changed Source to flatbed, and selected 1200 dpi resolution.  It worked fine, just as HP Smart does - although HP Smart is easier to use.  Most importantly, I can now scan at >300 dpi in other software!  Thanks again for your help.
