We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Envy 6530e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

No option to "Scan to Computer" on printer control panel.  Only options are Scan to Email or Scan to HP Cloud.

Am I missing something, or is the documentation incorrect for this device?

Hi @Nalarekab69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Great question! You’re not missing anything. This is actually by design for HP+ and newer HP Envy models like the 6530e.

Why “Scan to Computer” Is Missing

On HP+ printers (including the Envy 6530e), the traditional Scan to Computer option from the printer’s control panel has been replaced with cloud-based scanning. That’s why you only see:

  • Scan to Email
  • Scan to HP Cloud

HP moved this feature into the HP app instead of the printer’s screen.

How to Scan to Your Computer

You can still scan to your PC, but you must use the HP App:

  1. Download HP App: 👉 HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site
  2. Open HP Smart on your Windows 11 PC.
  3. Click Scan → choose Scanner.
  4. Select Save to Computer or Save as PDF/JPEG.

Why HP Changed This

HP+ printers rely on cloud services and HP Smart for advanced features like scanning, faxing, and remote access. The control panel options are simplified to encourage app-based workflows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you for he detailed explanation.

Guess HP need to ensure that sales and documentation are both updated to reflect this downgrade in features.

Sales couldn't tell me why mine wasn't working properly (that was a support department issue) but the printer definitely does support scan from control panel.

As a last resort before returning the device, I factory reset the printer, removed all software and tried installing again, and hey presto the control panel now has a scan to computer button, and I was able to add my family laptops.

Everything now works as expected.  But I am disappointed in Support's lack of help, and mystified by Vikram's explanation....  Going to disable firmware updates in case one downgrades everything....

Hi @Nalarekab69,

Thank you for taking the time to share this update, and I’m really glad to hear that after the full reset and reinstall, the Scan to Computer option finally appeared and everything is now working as expected.

At the same time, I’m truly sorry for the confusion and the frustration you experienced along the way. You absolutely should not have had to go through all that troubleshooting on your own, and I completely understand why the earlier explanation didn’t line up with what you were seeing.

To clarify:
Your printer does support Scan from the Control Panel, and you should continue to see that option as long as the full features are installed and the connection to each computer is active. No firmware downgrade removes this feature, so you do not need to worry about that.

That said, your feedback about both Support and the documentation is extremely valuable. I’ll make sure it’s passed along so the teams can review and update the guidance where needed.

If anything changes or if you notice the feature disappearing again, please let us know. we’re here to help anytime.

Take care and have an amazing day!
