Scan by using the HP Scan software (Windows)

Use the HP Scan software to initiate scanning from software on your computer. You can save the scanned image as a file or send it to another software application.

1. Place the originals face-down on the scanner glass, as indicated by the reference mark, or face-up in the ADF(automatic document feeder).

NOTE: For best results, load small-size paper (Letter, A4, or smaller) with the long edge of the paper along the left side of the scanner glass.

2. Click Start, and then click Programs (or All Programs in Windows).

3. Click HP, and then select your product.

4. Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut, and then adjust the settings if necessary.

Notes: you can choose original source from Flatbed Glass or ADF.

I used to be able to scan until I installed a printer driver for a Canon printer.  Now my scanner printer fax copier does not work anymore.  The  driver disk that came with it now takes an hour to read and just before install tells me it took too long and reboot and try again.  I have spent many hours trying to get this printer/scanner  to work.  Unfortunately although my computer is an HP I must assume that this HP Printer has become incompatible and I am thinking about purchasing a different brand altogether as I cannot get anyone with any knowlege as to how to re-install this one-time terrific printer.  Can anyone recommend a multifunction printer that will not give me as much grief as the Hewlett Packard brand.
