Welcome to the HP English Community --
If you do not configure the FAX hardware, it will not fax.
AND
If you do not plug the Fax to a Landline, it will not fax.
In general,
If you install the full driver printer software
AND
If your printer includes Fax hardware,
A "Fax" type device might be added to Devices and Printers.
The device list can be edited -
- Right-Click on the device you do not want (for example, the device named Fax)
- Remove that device.
When the full driver printer software is installed on a supported Windows version, the installation typically installs the printer software and -- if the printer hardware includes a Fax component - the Devices and Printers list will include a "Fax" entry
If the full driver printer software is not installed, the printer might -- or might not -- be included in Devices and Printers.
Clicking on a named "Fax" entry will, of course, open the Fax.
Devices and Printers
The devices connected to your computer are generally available using either the Control Panel or, for newer OS versions, Settings.
Windows 11
Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
Select Printer > More devices and printers settings
Windows 10
Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners
and possibly
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers
Example includes two different printers, their Fax, and accompanying devices (print queues and related destinations).
Right-Click on the device you want to mange / adjust / remove
