Hello- we are looking at purchasing a printer (MFP 148dw) for an employee's remote office. This is a non-saavy technical person. It is a sales person and we want to find out if he will be able to "scan to pdf" from the MFP 148dw if we purchase it for him? We want to stay away from having to create a HP cloud account, simply have him scan to PDF easily, likely just have him drop it on his desktop and then he can attach to his email(s). We are hoping we don't have to purchase Adobe Acrobat subscription to give the PDF option, but heard this may be a requirement? Anyone have any helpful info? I just don't want to buy a printer, send to his house and find it's very difficult for him to do or requires many steps to get it to PDF and also hoping not to have to purchase extra Adobe software to do so. Thank you.

Hi,
You should not purchase any additional software.
You may use HP Smart which supports PDF but requires an HP Account:

You may also use many other alternatives which does not require any cloud account such as installing the HP Full Feature Software option by following HP Easy Start:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/COL96741/HPEasyStart_12_7_11.exe
You may use HP Scan and Capture app:
You may use the Microsoft Scan app:
Regardless, there are freeware options such as NAPS2:
I think you are covered with many options to scan PDFs with the provided software, just choose the best option for your needs.
