Hello, @DiamondHill
I see that you were interacting with @A4Apollo. I'd like to be of your assistance 🙂
Going through your post, I see that you are having issues while scanning using the HP LaserJet printer. I’d suggest you first install the full feature printer software from here: http://hp.care/2ptZBu0
Restart the printer and PC and then try scanning again.
If you need an easier scan option, I'd suggest using the HP Smart. Go to https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en to download and install the app on your PC.
HP Scan and Capture is a simple and fun application that captures photos or documents from any HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera. These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications. Here are the detailed instructions on how to use the app: http://hp.care/2nZfg1K
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Hi! @DiamondHill, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you to know how to scan from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
If you are looking to use scan to computer on this model of laserjet there is no option of scanning from the printer control panel.
However, You can scan by using the HP Scan software (Windows)
Use the HP Scan software to initiate scanning from software on your computer. You can save the scanned image as a file or send it to another software application.
1. Load the document on the scanner glass according to the indicators on the product.
NOTE: For best results, load small-size paper (Letter, A4, or smaller) with the long edge of the paper along the left side of the scanner glass.
2. Click Start, and then click Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP).
3. Click HP, and then select your product.
4. Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut, and then adjust the settings if necessary.
5. Click Scan.
NOTE: Click Advanced Settings to gain access to more options.
Click Create New Shortcut to create a customized set of settings and save it in the list of shortcuts.
Refer the printer user guide for more information.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂
