Specifications  > Paper Handling > Paper tray capacities indicates that Legal size paper is supported in the ADF for single-side scan.

 

The User Guide > Load Paper (Page 13-14) explains how to load paper.  Be sure to look on the printer control panel for the chance to retain, "modify" (change) the paper size.

 

The "how-to" document explains how to scan and includes an FAQ section:

How to Scan (Windows)

 

Your Full Feature Software here - if you have not done so, download-save-install the software.

After the Software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

HP Scan is available from the Printer Assistant shortcut icon that will be added to the Desktop when the software installs.

Consider (if you have not done so) installing the printer Firmware.

Always read all / any provided information before installing printer firmware.
