Hi @Redbird70,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To scan a document to your computer using your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e, follow these steps:

Prepare Your Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is turned on and connected to your computer via a USB cable or wirelessly. Make sure the printer software and drivers are installed on your computer.

Load the Document:

  • Place the document you want to scan face down on the scanner glass, aligning it according to the guides, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.

Use HP App:

  • Open the HP app on your computer.
  • Click on the "Scan" option.
  • Select your scan settings, such as color, resolution, and file format (e.g., PDF).

Start Scanning:

  • Click "Scan" to start scanning the document.
  • The scanned document is saved to your computer’s specified location (usually within "Documents" or a folder of your choice).

Scanning to USB

For scanning directly to a USB flash drive:

Prepare USB Drive:

  • Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the printer.

Load the Document:

  • Place your document on the scanner glass or in the document feeder.

Scan to USB:

  • On the printer's control panel, access the scan menu.
  • Select the option to scan to USB.
  • Choose the desired file format (e.g., JPEG, PDF).

Note:

If the documents are being scanned as JPEG and you prefer them in PDF or another format, check the file format settings on the control panel before scanning.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
