Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

we have 2 PC's and 1 Laptop in our medical office. The 2 PC's are connected to 1 of 3 HP8720's that we have, and also each have thier own (epson) scanners connected. The 3rd PC is in our Lab/Laptop ,  has it's own HP8720. All of these computers print from our medical software to these printers with no issues. Our systen in "TWAIN". We are able to scan into our records using the epson scanners we have. I am trying to use the HP devices to also scan records into our software patient accounts, which has not be successful. Are these Twain compatible? and if so, why can I print out of a patients account a document, however I can not Scan into a patients account? Help. thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

 

The printer HP Officejet Pro 8720 is TWAIN compatible.

For you to use the scanning feature from a computer or from the printer front panel, the full feature printer driver must be installed on the laptop/PC.

The latest version of Windows automatically installs the driver for the printer that gives the printing capability but not scanning.

  • Here is the link to download the full feature driver for your printer or you can manually search for the drivers from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers
  • Once the download is complete, open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the set-up.
  • Try to scan the document and check if it works.
