HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I need to reset my Hp envy printer to factory settings because I want to exclude some emails stored that I don't have any more access to and also forgot PIN (Scan to Email App). Indeed, that was the only solution given by HP in this forum for the same situation. I already reset 5x to factory settings without success and all configuration remains, including those emails stored. Can someone please tell me how to really reset (hard reset) my printer to exclude all contents and not only a few configurations like wifi? So far the worst printer I have had…

By the way, it really doesn't make sense to need the PIN to exclude emails from MY OWN PRINTER…

Hi @Mouron,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand about the trouble you are facing, Unfortunately, HP’s "factory reset" on many printers (including the HP ENVY Photo 7830) only resets network and print settings, not the Scan to Email app configuration or admin PIN — which are stored in the printer’s embedded web server (EWS) or sometimes in HP cloud-linked services.

Let’s go step by step toward a true wipe, including removing locked email addresses.

Step 1: Try EWS (Embedded Web Server) First

If the printer is on and connected to the network:

  1. Find the printer’s IP address on its touchscreen:
    • Settings > Network > Wireless Summary > IP Address
  2. Type that IP into your web browser.
  3. You’ll reach the EWS page.
  4. Navigate to Scan > Scan to Email Setup.
  5. If it asks for a PIN, skip to Step 2 below.

Step 2: Service Menu Reset (Semi-Hidden)

Use the printer’s touchscreen:

  1. Turn on the printer and leave it idle (main screen).
  2. Tap the Back button (⟵) 4 times quickly.
    • On some models, it's Home > Back > Back > Home or similar combos.
    • This opens the Service Menu.
  3. Look for options like:
    • Semi-Full Reset
    • Full Reset
    • NVM Reset

⚠️ A Semi-Full Reset will erase most settings, sometimes including scan-to-email and admin PINS.

  1. Tap Semi-Full Reset, then let the printer power off and restart.
    • After a restart, it’ll go through initial setup steps like it’s brand new.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
