Hi @Sarj93,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check and Reset the Printer:

  1. Turn Off and Restart: Completely turn off your printer, disconnect the power cable and any other cords, wait for about 60 seconds, then reconnect and turn it back on. This can often resolve temporary glitches.

Update Drivers and Firmware:

  1. Driver Update: Make sure you have the latest driver and software updates installed for your printer. Visit the HP Support page for the most recent drivers for your model.
  2. Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update for your printer, as this can sometimes resolve underlying issues.

Inspect the Scanner Hardware:

  1. Lift the Scanner Lid: Open the scanner lid and check for any visible obstructions or foreign objects that might be interfering with the scanner mechanism.
  2. Scanner Glass: Ensure the scanner glass is clean. Use a lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner to gently wipe it down.

Check Connections:

  1. Cable and Connections: Make sure all cables are connected properly, both for the printer and the power source. Check for any loose connections.

Test Print and Scan Functions:

  1. Function Over Test: Try printing directly from the printer to ensure the printer functions correctly apart from scanning.

Service Mode:

  1. Enter Service Mode: If you are familiar with service mode operations, enter this mode (instructions usually found in the service manual) and perform basic hardware tests. However, this is usually recommended for advanced users or technicians.

Reset Printer Defaults:

  1. Restore Factory Defaults: Restore factory settings on your printer to eliminate any configuration issues. Be aware this can remove custom settings.

I hope this helps.
