Files "go" where you send them, that is, the named destination you either accept or assign as the job is saved.

OR

Files go to the preset Destination as set in the application / software you are using.

An Example --

HP Scan - Windows - Full Driver - Scan - Save as PDF

Main menu - Send To

More > Destination

Applications and Software are dependent on the Operating System / version.

In the case of HP Smart / HP App, the destination might be "last used", accepted "as is", or as defined in a Smart Shortcut Destination (Cloud account) that you call after the content is scanned.
