Hi @RonBlouw,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is being recognized by the HP Smart app but is reported as offline, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions.

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your HP printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  • If the printer is connected via a USB cable, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your HP printer, computer, and router to refresh their connections and resolve any potential communication issues.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Make sure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. If not, update the app to the latest version from the app store (Google Play Store for Android devices, Apple App Store for iOS devices).

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • If updating the app doesn't solve the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your device.

Check Printer Status:

  • On the printer control panel, ensure there are no error messages or warnings. Resolve any issues indicated on the printer display.

Printer and Network Reset:

  • Some HP printers have a "Restore Network Settings" option. Refer to your printer's manual to perform a network reset. After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Router Settings:

  • Ensure that your router settings are not blocking communication between the devices. Check for any firewall or security settings that might be affecting the connection.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. You can usually find this information on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the official HP website. This tool can diagnose and fix common printing problems.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing your HP printer from being recognized as online by the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
