I bought a HP deskjet 2700 inkjet Yesterday and the scanner wont work (Ubuntu)

Hi everyone! i need some help, I bought a hp deskjet 2700 inkjet printer yesterday and install the hplip-3.21.12.run program but it still wont scan, it will print and even copy no scan at all, any time i try and scan a document a pop up shows up and saids Driver Plug-in installation is required

So i click next and another shows up saying Driver Plug-in Installation 

Then i click on Download and Install the plug-in from HP Authorized Server(Recommend)

Followed by next

Then for about maybe 4 to 5 mins it freezes and says "Unable to receive key from keyserver"

Without this, it is not possible to authenticate and validate the plug-in prior to installation.

Do you still want to continue? i click yes

Then it asks me for the root password that i do have and know but it just Opens a new thing and saids Plug-in Install Failed, then it said Failed to install plug-in and it clams to that i ether chosen to skip the plug-in or enters incorrect password.

But here is the thing when i enter a wrong root password it give me two chances while when i enter the correct one it just fails immediately. 

i even changed the root password to my pc to 123456789 and it still failed immediate

Hello anyone who is reading this. I got my HP deskjet 2700 inkjet working but not in Ubuntu but in a VM

while in Ubuntu it did print, it would not scan I updated drivers and even reinstall my main os but nothing would work so i gave up trying to find a answer so i got a found a old harddrive  to install printer on a vm and it work the os i am using is win. 8

I do like the printer and maybe it was just me and the scan would not accept my setting or some thing but at lease the VM part worked. thank you all for reading this and i hope you all have a wonderful day.
