Hi @rKennedy1,

Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post about fax issues with the printer not receiving faxes, It will be a delight to assist you with this. 🙂

Brilliant description, superb troubleshooting and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Have you ever received faxes before on this printer?
  • Did you bypass power strips an connect the printer directly to a wall outlet?
  • Do you get any error messages?
  • Do you have voicemail enabled on the phone? (not an answering machine)

For a start please try all the prescribed steps from the user guide for setting up fax and sending and receiving faxes. Link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04316164 pleae check pages 61-72 for clear step by step instructions.

Also, try receiving faxes from multiple phone numbers and check. This should do the trick for you.

To answer your questions:  I have received faxes before but only occasionally.  I did bypass a power strip and connected the printer directly to a wall outlet.  I don't get an error message but the persons who try to fax something do on their end.  I never know if someone is trying to fax unless they tell me. I do not have voicemail enabled on the phone.  I am going to try the prescribed steps suggested.  One other thing that may or may not be significant.  I notice that the time is not correct on the control panel and must turn the machine off and turn it back on for it so show the correct time.

Hello, @rKennedy1

I see that you were interacting with @DavidSMP. I would like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂

Going through your post, this looks like an issue with the ECM (Error correct mode) setting on your printer.

Go to Basic fax settings / Advanced fax setting, look for ECM option and disable the same. Now check receiving faxes.

Also, try updating the time on your printer and restart the machine.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

The link for pages 60-72 does not work.  I keep getting an error code. Can you send a new link?
