Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I can't scan from my HP 4370 scanner on my new Catalina Mac. The application I used to use is 32-bit, which is not supported under Catalina. I installed HP Easy Scan, but it didn't see my scanner. Then I installed Parallels, and installed OSX Mojave as a virtual machine. That can run 32 bit apps, and lets me run both HP Scan and the HP Scanjet preference under System Preferences. But neither one of them sees my scanner. The virtual machine gives me an error message whenever I try to connect to it, saying Unable to connect "hp scanjet" to "macOSMojave" now.

I need an application that will talk to the scanner on Catalina. I found a 3rd party application called VueScan which successfully connected to the scanner and let me scan, but the picture quality and color balance were terrible. But it tells me that the Catalina USB connection works, as does the scanner, so it should be doable. I want to use the photo scanner to scan my slides.

Hi @MiguelAMunoz

The scanner is not supported on any later OS and not officially supported at least on 10.9 or any later version, so no driver support is offered or your OS.

Vuescan is the best option I'm familiar with, other than installing any supported operating system on Parallel, such as Mountain Lion (10.8) or a supported Windows version.

Actually, MS Vista was the latest Windows version to officially support the scanner, not even Windows 7.

Vuescan is a terrible option for transparency scanning, which is what I need. It produces scans with a color balance that's way off and very difficult to correct, and it can't scan in high resolutions. I will try using Mountain Lion. Thank you for the information.

If you can provide me with a URL for OSX Mountain Lion in the app store, that would be very helpful.

Sure @MiguelAMunoz,

You should first install below drivers on Mountain Lion (10.8):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL31539/sj-78355-5/HP_Installer_Scanjet_v2.4.4_Ph5.dmg

Next, install the following update too:

It's not clear from what you're saying if the scanner is supported under OSX 10.8.x. Is it? I have tried VueScan and found it unacceptable for  transparencies, which is what I need. (It works fine flatbed scanning but that doesn't help me.) It also doesn't support the high-resolution scans that the scanner excels at.

OS X Mountain Lion, installed under Parallels doesn't fix the problem, possibly due to a bug in Parallels. It doesn't recognize the scanner. Can you say for sure that it's supposed to support the HP Scanjet 4379 scanner?

Hi,

I can say for sure that your scanner is supported on Mac OS X 10.8, I can't say for sure it is supported on OS virtualization as Parallel, this is something you may try but relies on your virtual OS settings too, not only on the printer.

I would first suggest to start with these guidelines and see if that helps:
