The print & scan function was not found when I searched for it in Printer Assistant. I have scanned other documents but this time it would not let me access the print and scan function.

Hi @susan122052

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry the Print & Scan function has disappeared from HP Printer Assistant—it’s unsettling when a familiar tool suddenly goes missing, especially when scanning has worked before.

Let’s walk through a few steps to bring it back into view and restore full access.

Try these steps to restore the Print & Scan tab in HP Printer Assistant:

1. Confirm full driver installation

HP Printer Assistant only appears when the full feature driver is installed—not just the basic driver or Windows auto-detected version.

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page
  • Enter your exact printer model (e.g., HP DeskJet 2752e)
  • Select Windows 11 as your operating system
  • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver package
  • Restart your computer after installation

This ensures all Printer Assistant features—including Print & Scan—are available.

2. Remove and re-add the printer

This refreshes the device profile and restores missing functions.

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Select your printer and click Remove
  • Restart your PC
  • Re-add the printer using the HP App or Add device in Windows settings

3. Launch HP Printer Assistant directly

Sometimes the shortcut doesn’t open the full interface.

  • Press Windows + S and search for HP Printer Assistant
  • If it doesn’t appear, try launching from:
    • C:\Program Files\HP\HP DeskJet 2700 series\Bin\HPDeskJet2700.exe
    • Or use the HP App to access scanning tools

4. Use the HP App for scanning

If Printer Assistant remains incomplete, the HP App offers full scanning functionality.

  • Download the HP App
  • Open the app and select your printer
  • Go to Scan > Scan a Document or Photo
  • Choose your settings and start scanning

5. Run Diagnose & Fix tool

This can detect and repair missing software components.

  • Open the HP App
  • Go to Support > Diagnose & Fix
  • Follow the prompts while the printer is powered on and connected

Let me know your printer model if you’d like help locating the exact driver package. Once the full software is installed and the printer is re-added, the Print & Scan tab should return with full functionality.
