Hi @MADatYOU,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry you're having trouble finding your scanned document. I understand how frustrating it can be to lose track of important files, especially after completing a scan. Let’s locate it together.

  • Did you use the HP Smart app or another scanning application to perform the scan?
  • Do you recall the file format (e.g., PDF, JPG) or the name of the scanned document?
  • Was the document saved automatically, or were you prompted to select a location before saving?

Let's try these steps.

1. Check the Default Scanning Folder

  • Open File Explorer (Windows + E).
  • Navigate to This PC > Documents or Pictures folders. Look for a subfolder named Scans, HP Scans, or My Scans.

2. Search for the File

  • Use the search bar in File Explorer. Enter keywords like:
    • The document name (if you remember it).
    • File extensions like *.pdf or *.jpg.

3. Rescan with HP Smart for a Controlled Save

  • Open the HP Smart app (download from Microsoft Store if not installed).
  • Select Scan > Save As, and choose a specific folder on your computer to save the document.

4. Change Default Scan Destination

  • Open the scanning application used.
  • Go to Settings or Preferences and check the default save location. Adjust it to a folder you can easily access, such as Desktop or Documents.

5. Check Temporary Files

  • The scanned file might have been saved as a temporary file. To check:
    1. Press Windows + R, type %temp%, and hit Enter.
    2. Look for recently created files.

Note; Always name your scans and select a specific save location during the scanning process.

  • Create a dedicated folder (e.g., My Scanned Documents) for better organization.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
