Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I cannot open the HP Smart App on my macbook computer. I have done a software update as well as updating the app. I have also deleted the app from the computer and re added it, yet I still cannot open the HP Smart App. It opens for a split second then closes. Now I cannot scan to my computer, because I cannot open the app. I just purchased this printer, and yet cannot use it.. very frustrating! If anyone has any solutions please let me know! Thanks in advance.

I would start by deleting all the settings for HP Smart and setting it up again.

Did you originally download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store or from HP.com?

If you installed it from hp.com then you can delete /Users/username/Library/Application Support/HP Smart.

Then delete the app in the Applications folder and download HP Smart from Mac App Store.

If you downloaded it from the app store you can basically reset it back to zero by deleting:

/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.hp.SmartMac

Then relaunch the app from the Applications folder and go through setup again.
