Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

My printer is Hp smart tank 615. Usually when i take out the papers from bondpaper tray, the screen wil display that ‘the printer is out of paper. Load paper into the tray.’ Then when i put paper in the tray, the screen will display the choices of bondpaper size, but now there is no display. I cannot change the bondpaper size, so I cannot photocopy a legal size bondpaper.
What should i do? Thank you.

Hi @Esper1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 615 is not detecting the paper removal and insertion properly, which prevents it from prompting you to select the bond paper size. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 1-2 minutes and plug it back in.
  3. Turn it on and check if the paper size selection prompt appears after inserting the paper.

Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord without turning it off first.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Paper Sensors

The printer uses sensors to detect paper. If they are blocked or faulty, the prompt may not appear.

  • Remove the paper tray and inspect the inside for any dust, debris, or stuck paper.
  • Use compressed air or a dry cloth to gently clean the sensors inside the tray area.

Try Different Paper Types

  • Remove the current paper and insert a fresh stack of bond paper (A4 or Legal size).
  • Make sure the paper is properly aligned and not curled or damp.
  • Try a different type or brand of paper to see if the printer detects it.

Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware

  • Sometimes a firmware bug can cause issues.
  • Check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website:
    • HP Support - Smart Tank 615
  • If the issue started after a recent update, try reinstalling the firmware.

Manually Set Paper Size in Copy Settings

If the prompt does not appear, try setting the paper size manually:

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Copy Settings.
  2. Select Paper Size and change it to Legal.
  3. If this option is missing, try Resetting Copy Settings to default.

Perform a Factory Reset

If nothing works, a factory reset may restore the original functionality:

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
  2. Select Restore Defaults > Reset to Factory Defaults.
  3. Set up the printer again and check if the issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
