I have a HP Envy 6455e and I have many pictures to scan - when I scan a picture i then go to the save the scanned picture the next prompt is what folder to save it to.. when i click on the folder i want and save the picture - it does not go to the folder i went to save it to but creates a new folder in the folder i selected... I just want to save the picture i scab to a particular folder and not create a new folder in that folder with the picture i scanned.  There must be a way to just save the picture or multiple pictures I am scanning to the folder itself without having a new folder?

I think the behavior has much to do with the software / application you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the job to the printer.

At the moment, I can't find where "new folder" is a default.

My initial conclusion:  Yes, it is possible to scan and save without creating a new folder each time.

That said, there are many print and scan programs and applications.

Tell us more about what you are doing and we can check...

and / or

If you have not done so,

Consider

Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software

Use HP Scan to scan one or more photos placed on the printer flatbed (glass) -

Save as individual photo files in a folder of your choice.

Next,

Place one or more photos on the printer flatbed, "picture" side down

Each photo should be separated from others by an inch or more on each side

Open HP Scan

Select to "Save as JPEG"

Set main menu options, including Page Size = "Detect Photos"

Open More > Destination

Adjust settings in each sub-menu, including "Save to Folder" destination and the "File Name" (prefix).
