Hi @Chrissy59,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Let's address them step by step:

Issue 1: Unable to Enter IP Address in HP Smart App

you can refer this link : HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

If you're unable to enter the IP address of your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 in the HP Smart app, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Network Connection: Make sure that your printer and your Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Verify IP Address: Double-check the IP address of your printer. You can usually find this information by printing a network configuration page from the printer. This page will contain details about your printer's network settings, including its IP address.

Restart Printer and Mac: Sometimes, simply restarting both your printer and your Mac can resolve connectivity issues.

Update HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your Mac. You can check for updates in the App Store.

Firewall or Security Software: Ensure that your firewall or security software isn't blocking the HP Smart app from accessing the network.

Reinstall HP Smart App: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your Mac.

Issue 2: Blurry Scans

If your scanned documents are coming out blurry, here are some potential solutions:

Clean Scanner Glass: Sometimes, dirt or smudges on the scanner glass can cause blurry scans. Clean the glass thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Adjust Scan Settings: In the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel, you should have options to adjust the scan settings such as resolution, brightness, and contrast. Experiment with different settings to see if it improves the quality of your scans.

Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Mac. You can usually download them from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
