Hi @Lakedistrict ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble locating your scanned documents on macOS 11.0 Big Sur, here are a few steps you can try to find them:

Check Default Scan Folder:

  • Most scanning applications save scanned documents in a default folder. Check the settings of your scanning software to determine the default save location.
  • Common default folders include "Documents" or a folder specifically created by the scanning application.

Search for File Names:

  • If you remember the names of the scanned files, you can use the built-in search feature in Finder to locate them. Open Finder and use the search bar in the top-right corner.

Check Recent Files:

  • Open Finder and navigate to "File" > "Find" > "Recent Items." This will show you a list of recently opened files, including your scanned documents.

Use Spotlight Search:

  • Press Command + Space to open Spotlight search. Type the name of the file or a keyword related to the scanned documents. Spotlight will search your entire system for matching files.

Check iCloud Drive:

  • If you have iCloud Drive enabled, check the iCloud Drive folder. Sometimes, scanned documents may be saved there if it's set as the default save location.

Check Trash:

  • It's possible that the files were accidentally deleted. Check the Trash for any recently deleted files.

Review Scan Settings:

  • Check the settings of your scanning application again to confirm the save location. Look for any options that allow you to specify the destination folder for scanned documents.

Check Other Common Folders:

  • Look in common folders such as Desktop, Downloads, and any custom folders you might have set up for document storage.

Use Terminal:

  • If you're comfortable using Terminal, you can use the find command to search for files. Open Terminal and use a command like: find / -name "yourfilename.pdf"
Replace "yourfilename.pdf" with the actual name of your scanned document.

Scan Again with Preview:

  • If all else fails, try scanning a test document again and carefully note the saved location. This might give you insights into where the scanned files are being saved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
