True - The embedded OCR software was removed from many Installation Web Packs in mid-2022.

 

No, we do not know "why".

 

Possible reasons (not verified) might include:

Compatibility issues, licensing limitations, changes elsewhere in the printer software that required the older embedded OCR to be removed.

 

 

Current Web Pack Installation Package - Full Feature Software

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

 

If you have a previously downloaded and saved Web Pack installation package file, use that to install your Full Feature Software.

 

What else?

The Universal Scan Software provided for some installations is both printer model and OS dependent.

Where supported, the software provides / adds OCR enhancements for HP Scan.

The Universal Scan Software is not listed as supported on the OfficeJet Pro 8710.

The information is provided FYI and is not meant to tease you about what you cannot have with this printer model.

 

What to do?

 

Find, purchase, obtain the OCR capabilities you want.
