I would like to download the HP Smart App, however I get the following message>

Not sure - HP Smart for Windows is compatible with Windows 10 (tagged as your Operating System).  The application comes from the Windows Store.

 

You did not indicate a mobile device, but you are posting in the Mobile Printing board.

This is on my home computer which is a Hp Pavillion Touch Smart all in one

The application is - as mentioned - from the Windows Store.

 

There is not a lot that can make the application incompatible with the printer (supported).

 

In general, unless there is something odd happening, the HP Smart Application is supported in Windows 10, even Windows 10 2004 .

 

Easier first step might be to reset the Windows Store.

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

Do you have the Full Feature Software installed?

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

 

Assuming the Full Feature Software is installed,

  • How is the printer connected?  Wired Ethernet / Wireless?
  • Are you using a manually assigned IP address and / or a manually set up TCP/IP connection to the printer?
  • Is the Full Feature Software functional?  That is, can you print - does the printer software function?

 

Are you seeing the message right after you click to download the HP Smart application in the Store?

 

Have you ever used the application in the past?

That is, have you previously installed HP Smart and it has stopped working?

 

If you have not done so, ensure (make certain):

  • Windows Updates are current / installed / up-to-date
  • HP Software and drivers for your computer are current / installed / up-to-date
  • Check Settings > Apps > Apps and Features - is the HP Smart listed there?
  • Check Windows Start - is HP Smart listed under the All Apps "H" category?

HP Smart App is compatible with Win 10.  Was it downloaded from Microsoft Store?

I downloaded the full printer software as well as the store update/reset info.

Honestly, at the moment, I don't have any other ideas - Windows Store applications are not something over which we have much control.

 

In so much that I am aware, even if the application were not happy with a particular printer after installation, the application itself should install on compatible versions of Windows 10.  In other words, the printer assignment is made after the application is installed, the printer is not part of the initial requirement for the download and installation of the HP Smart application.

 

Assuming an app was ever installed at all, it would show up listed in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

and / or

Windows Start > All Apps > "H" category (in the case of the HP Smart application)

Right-Click on the app (if found) > More > select whatever options are available

 

If the application is found in Apps and Features, clicking on it usually provides whatever options are available for it, including uninstall and Advanced Options.

 

Yes, I know... all repeats to what you have tried.
