Just unboxed and set up today and am really liking it. However, is it possible to scan (preferably to computer) via a button on the control panel? And am I correct in guessing that the two buttons that do light up when I open the flatbed cover or insert into the document feeder are print color and print b/w? (Would be fantastic if I could find an actual user's manual online; remember those days?) Thanks!

Yes, you can scan from the printer front panel directly to the computer. Refer to the below article for more information.

Thanks for your reply. In both places you sent me, though, I'm seeing that I need to use the software to initiate a scan. I don't see in either place that there is a button on the Envy Pro 6455 to initiate a scan, only buttons to initiate either color copy or B&W copy. 

 

The User Guide TOC shows this:

You'll see there is "copy from the printer" above. Clicking through to the Scan section on page 70 shows only the following options:

So I believe the answer is that it is not possible to initiate a scan from the control panel of the HP Envy Pro 6455. And that's ok, I'm liking the printer other than that and maybe this post will hope someone else. 🙂

Yes, I see that you need to initiate the scan using the computer and there is no option on the printer to initiate the scan as this printer doesn't have a display panel. I am sorry about the incorrect information.
