Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I am able to wirelessly print from my Android mobile phone to my HP 2544 printer. However when I try to use Smart print to scan from my HP 2544 printer wirelessly back to my mobile phone it says printer not detected. What can be the problem? Could use your help

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

 

Try these steps:

  1. Ensure Both Devices Are Connected to the Same Network:
    • Make sure your Android phone and HP DeskJet 2544 printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Update the HP Smart App

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your Android phone.
  • Go to the Google Play Store and check for any updates.

Restart Devices

  • Turn off the HP DeskJet 2544 printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Turn off your Android phone.
  • Wait for 60 seconds before turning both devices back on.

Reconfigure Network Settings

  • Access the printer’s control panel.
  • Navigate to Network Setup.
  • Restore the network settings.
  • Reconfigure the network settings and make sure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi.

Check App Permissions

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app has the necessary permissions to access your device’s network and storage.
  • Go to Settings on your Android phone.
  • Tap on Apps & notifications > HP Smart > Permissions.
  • Ensure all required permissions are enabled.

Verify Firewall and Security Settings

  • Make sure your network’s firewall or security settings are not blocking the printer’s communication with the HP Smart app.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall to test if it resolves the issue.

Test Scanning Functionality

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Android phone.
  • Select the Scan option.
  • If prompted, choose your HP DeskJet 2544 printer.
  • Perform a scan test to see if the device is detected.
